Installation of pile shuttering utilising underwater welding

These works were carried out at North Shields Fish Quay, the work task was to  install and weld steel boxes around existing timber piles. These were later filled with  concrete pumped in from the surface via Sidewinder concrete pump to reinforce the piles. A total of 36 boxes were fitted, these were all sealed to ensure the concrete  did not leak into the river reducing the risk to the environment. All of these works were carried out with the minimum disruption to the fishing vessels and the business of the fish market which remained open during the works.
